Elizabeth Rains began this blog in 2013.
As a journalist since the late 1980s, Elizabeth has covered politics forThe Kamloops Daily News and the Vancouver Sun and for a community paper in the town of Gibsons, British Columbia, where she now lives.
As her career moved along she began to tire of wading through political obfuscation in order to report accurately on the news. She was also annoyed with the expense of political campaigns. She thought the money could be better spent on cleaning up the environment and feeding hungry people throughout the world.
She began to research alternatives to the current electoral system going back to Ancient Greece, and she discovered sortition. The idea simmered in her mind for more than a decade, and then this blog was born. May you enjoy it, and please post to it if you have something to add.
